Investing in You: Financial Self Care for Women
Glenmede graciously hosted WIN at its stunning Center City offices on September 10 or Investing in You: Financial Self-Care for Women. The event featured an exceptional panel that delivered valuable insights and practical strategies to help attendees safeguard their financial well-being at every stage of life. With an intro by Samantha Audia, and guided by moderator Fareeha Arshad, both of Glenmede, the discussion explored a wide range of topics, leaving participants informed and empowered.
A few key takeaways from the panel included:
- Erin McQuiggan of Duane Morris emphasized the importance of establishing an estate plan ideally with three key documents (Power of Attorney for Health/Financials and a will)—immediately. If you don’t have one in place, start now and revisit it regularly. These documents are living and require ongoing updates and maintenance.
- Eileen Heisman of HeismanAdvisory shared practical advice on maintaining financial independence—such as always having carfare or cab fare on hand, a simple yet powerful metaphor. On philanthropy, she reminded us not to underestimate the impact we can make at any stage or level of giving, highlighting the accessibility of donor-advised funds, and urged us to champion causes we truly believe in to stay motivated.
- Jillian Golden of Glenmede encouraged everyone to know your net worth and always pay yourself first. Small, consistent habits can create a significant impact over time.
The audience engaged with thoughtful questions and enjoyed networking over drinks and light bites against the stunning backdrop of the Philadelphia skyline. A heartfelt thank you to Glenmede for hosting, to our panelists and moderator for an inspiring discussion, and to all who attended.
