Leading Ladies: Exploring Leadership Styles of Successful Women in Investing
Our WIN community came together at Hamilton Lane for a fabulous panel discussion, Leading Ladies: Exploring Leadership Styles of Successful Women in Investing. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from five leaders from the firm: Kristin Brandt, Chief Human Resources Officer, Kate Reilly, Chief Operating Officer of Client Solutions, Andrea Kramer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Risk Officer, and Jackie Rantanen, Managing Director, Evergreen Portfolio Management, and, Katie Maier, Vice President Talent Acquisition. The evening flew by as the panelists talked about an array of topics – taking risk, making decisions, psychological safety, career pathing in private markets and more. A few takeaways from the evening:
- The only way to make change is to bring others along.
- It’s important to not just have a mentor but to be a mentor. Don’t be afraid to be proactive and ask for a mentor, and recognize you may find mentors in unexpected places (e.g. a running club) outside of work.
- When thinking about taking a risk or making a pivot, tap into the why. Why take that risk or make that jump? If something aligns with your values, goals and interests, it’s probably a risk worth taking.
- Keep a running list of accomplishments throughout the year. No one can know or speak to your accomplishments better than you can!
- Be confident and share your opinion on an issue, project, decision to be made.
Thank you, Hamilton Lane, for hosting such a wonderful event!
