Hartford Funds will host a fireside chat with Jorge Tenreiro (Deputy Chief, Crypto Asset & Cyber Unit, Division of Enforcement, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) regarding the SEC’s regulations and enforcement. The discussion will include an overview of the SEC, new rules, enforcement priorities and regulatory hot topics (AI and crypto). AI and crypto have been a hot-button topic in 2023 that has the attention of the Securities & Exchange Commission.
The SEC’s Jorge Tenreiro, Deputy Chief, Crypto Asset & Cyber Unit, Division of Enforcement, will give us an overview of the SEC, new rules, enforcement priorities and regulatory hot topics, including artificial intelligence and crypto.
About the Speaker
Jorge Tenreiro is Deputy Chief, Crypto Asset and Cyber Unit, Division of Enforcement, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. The Unit is responsible for protecting investors in crypto markets and from cyber-related threats.
Mr. Tenreiro has been with the SEC for nearly 10 years, moving into his current role in October 2022. His previous roles at the SEC included Enforcement Counsel to SEC Chair Gary Gensler and Senior Trial Attorney in the Division of Enforcement, New York Regional Office. Since joining the SEC, he has amassed specialized knowledge regarding the application of the federal securities laws to crypto-related transactions and obtained significant experience litigating various matters brought by the agency, including fraudulent offerings. He has also been the lead litigating counsel in various crypto-related matters.
Before joining the SEC, Mr. Tenreiro was a law clerk for the Honorable Julio M. Fuentes for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and a law clerk to the Honorable Allyne R. Ross of the Eastern District of New York. He is a 2006 graduate of Yale Law School and earned a B.A., magna cum laude with distinction, in economics and mathematics from Yale University.
